Callide review warned of faults before explosion
It's been revealed the operator of Queensland's Callide Power Station warned of maintenance negligence two years before 2021's explosion.
The draft Brady report cites a 2019 review, where CS Energy found a backlog of maintenance work exceeding 'approval limits'.
It noted if ignored, it would increase the risk of 'asset failures'.
A follow-up review in 2022 after the explosion of one of the units found the backlog 'had not been brought back with KPI limits'.
After the incident, Energy Minister Mick de Brenni told parliament all required work had been completed.
Premier Steven Miles continued to defend the government's response to the May 2021 explosion.
