Beatles fans relive once-in-a-lifetime Adelaide show

60 years ago, Beatlemania swept the country. And came here to Adelaide. Can we have a little quiet please? 300,000 people were hoping to catch a glimpse of the Fab 4. It's something that's never been seen in Adelaide before. It's absolutely magnificent. Ahead of their iconic performance at Wayville's Centennial Hall, Fast forward 6 Decker it said it was the Lady Beatles putting on a show. Recreating The Beatles 1964 set list was electric. Yeah, I was just so exciting cause the crowds were absolutely phenomenal. Hundreds relieving the memories of that moment in history. Today at Town Hall, Kathleen Rutchak still has her concert ticket, which was in high demand. Slept on the pavement for two nights and I lined up with everyone on the morning Jan Cox salvemony was lucky enough to be there as the band stepped off the plane. I had my little camera. And I took my photo and it's of Paul and John both looking at me. At just 14 years old. It was certainly a moment she'll never forget. I had no idea that I was the only one. I was the first Beatle fan at the Adelaide airport to actually say hello to The Beatles. Recollections now in hard copy documenting The Beatles one and only Australian tour. Jan's story is among many featured in the book launching today. Its authors spent two decades researching and interviewing those that were lucky enough to witness history. And a lot of it was actually done here in Adelaide at the State Library of SA and other archives. We helped put The Beatles on the map because it was the biggest crowd to greet them anywhere.
