One Enemy in a Resident Evil 0 Remake May be Scarier than RE1 Crimson Heads

One Enemy in a Resident Evil 0 Remake May be Scarier than RE1 Crimson Heads
  • Resident Evil 0 remake rumors continue to stir, with Mimicry Marcus standing out as a terrifying enemy deserving of a modern upgrade.
  • Mimicry Marcus, a leech cluster disguised as Dr. Marcus, poses a grotesque and stomach-turning threat in Resident Evil 0's horror tale.
  • Capcom may consider rebooting Resident Evil 0 for its mix of scares and compelling story, setting up a potentially intense gaming experience.

The Resident Evil rumor mill has been heated as of late, with potential remake speculation pointing toward a variety of games in the series. However, one of the most compelling potential remakes is Resident Evil 0. This prequel is a little over 20 years old at this point, and it features plenty of horror-drenched moments that would really benefit from modern graphics.

Although this title was the fifth mainline game released in the series, it's technically the first official chapter of the Resident Evil story. Resident Evil 0 tells the events that lead up to the first Resident Evil, giving some deeper insight into how everything happened. There have been plenty of hopes that Resident Evil 1 will get the remake treatment, but Resident Evil 0 may have one leg up with the scare factor when it comes to one enemy type: Mimicry Marcus.

Resident Evil 9 Will Hopefully Bring an End To One Unfortunate Trend

The Resident Evil series has developed countless trends and tropes over the last few decades, but there's one recent trend that needs to end in RE9.

Resident Evil 0 Features One of the Franchise's Most Terrifying Enemies

Mimicry Marcus is made out of the stuff of nightmares. Resident Evil has featured a large variety of terrifying zombified beings, as well as heavy hitters, like Mr. X and Nemesis, but Mimicry Marcus is an enemy that is truly stomach-turning. What makes running into a Mimicry Marcus so terrifying is that the creatures are made out of swarms of leeches, which isn't only terrifying, but gross.

The Story Behind Mimicry Marcus

Throughout the events of Resident Evil 0, players have to avoid running into a Mimicry Marcus at all costs. This leech cluster forms together in order to take the form of their creator, Dr. James Marcus. These giant leeches were used by Dr. Marcus in order to create the T-Virus, which then infected the passengers of the Ecliptic Express train, beginning the events of Resident Evil's continuing story.

These powerful leeches can completely take over an area, so it's usually best to just try and run past them because it's easy to get overwhelmed by the slimy creatures. Once they merge together and take the form of Dr. Marcus, they become even more intense to face, as they have a decent amount of range to hit players. They will also try to charge players and explode, and it results in some significant damage. Resident Evil has had plenty of scares throughout the franchise, but leeches and Mimicry Marcus are unique enemies in the series that really bring on an uneasy feeling.

Resident Evil Remake Rumors Continue

From Resident Evil 0 to the likes of Code Veronica, there have been plenty of rumors circulating about which entry in the series is next in line to get the remake treatment. After Resident Evil 2, 3,and 4 were given remakes that turned out wildly successful, it only makes sense that Capcom would want to expand on this. However, Resident Evil 0 may be one of the best contenders simply due to the potential Mimicry Marcus presents. Now, thanks to the vast improvements in graphics since 2002, a truly gruesome nightmare of a creature could be brought to life with a remake.

Whatever the next Resident Evil remake happens to be, it's a given that some of the most iconic monsters from the franchise are going to be remade in a gloriously horrifying light. The abilities Mimicry Marcus has made it one of the franchise's most terrifying creations, and it deserves to be reintroduced, only this time even more grotesque. The future of Resident Evil is a big question mark at the moment. Whether it's an all-new chapter in the series or a remake of a beloved entry, it will be exciting to see how the franchise takes its terrifying monster design to the next level.
