Taye Diggs Says Son Walker Soon 'Got Sick' of Mom Idina Menzel's ‘Frozen’
Hey, what was your favorite Disney movie growing up? My favorite Disney movie where Pocahontas was big for me. Just because, you know, and the Princess and the Frog. That right. It's been a while. Yeah. Those two. Yeah. Yeah. What about two My favorites were frozen. I used to watch frozen on repeat, repeat everyday. I had frozen heels, I had frozen microphones, everything. But also it's funny because Ariel was my second favorite Disney Princess of all time. I loved her beautiful hair. I loved her the the mermaid aspect and her beautiful tail and all that she represented. It was really a a a full circle only coming into this character, you know, tea as an into Frozen right. Probably scheduled meet up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Did your son have a favorite Disney movie growing up? We saw them all obviously. Well not obviously Frozen. He got sicko pretty quickly. Did he? Well, you can imagine one of the big because we still watch them. We still watch them in here. He now he, he just now is realizing how a lot of the, the brilliance of Disney's they'll make storylines accessible to the children and the adults, the like so that adults don't get sick. I'm so excited for this. I was saying before my kids have been seeing the commercials for Ariel like non-stop when they're watching Disney in the morning. So we're very excited. So tell me how we are kind of reimagining Ariel. I know we're kind of going back to the beginning. So tell me all about it. I really love this new type of version of Disney, of Ariel because we get to see Ariel younger than we ever seen her before. We get to see a deeper dive into her life, who she was friends with, how she makes friends and yeah, all all together. We get to see a deeper dive into her daily life. And it's not this event that happens like we see in the feature films. It's really how she lives and who she was. And I feel like that's a really, really great type of new vision into her life. Definitely. Tell you how did you approach King Triton with excitement. As you can imagine, you know being a part of the Disney family for both of us has been you know a wonderful experience, but we're making history it's a completely multi ethnic cast. We've got brand new music with a very strong Caribbean background and and like a little Mama said, these are very understandable and palatable kind of situations that you find this mother daughter, excuse me, father daughter relationship. People can actually kind of use them as opposed to the larger than life situations you you find on the on the big screen. Definitely, you know, these are characters that people have grown up with that people still go back and revisit time and time again. Do you feel pressure at all taking on these roles that are such iconic characters, or are you excited to kind of put your own twist on it? I feel like it's a little bit of both, right? Like there's a pressure coming into this incredible role who, like all these amazing people have played Ariel. And it's kind of a pressure kind of, you know, being up there and having to take on that at character as well. But I feel like, as you said, I can also put my own type of spin on it because Ariel, like I said, has never been shown this young. And it's kind of like, I like to think of it as a new, a brand new look into Ariel. And I get to put my own type of, you know, spin on things while keeping it the, you know, iconic aerial that we all know and love. Definitely, Absolutely. Yeah. Disney, very rarely, you know, they, they know how to do it. So they, they changed it just enough where we could feel like we're doing our thing. But, you know, they're, they're obviously not going to mess with something that's been doing so well for so many years. Yeah, it's, I think we're both just really, really honored and and excited.
