The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Is Bringing Back a Fan-Favorite Character

A new installment of The Lincoln Lawyer will hit screens in Oct. Adding to the anticipation, is the return of fan-favorite character Andrea Freeman to Season 3 of the legal drama.

Series showruuner Ted Humphrey confirmed the news in an interview with TV Line. "Andrea Freeman [played by actor Yaya DaCosta] will be returning in Season 3," he said, before hinting at what fans can expect from the character in the upcoming episodes. "We loved the dynamic between her and Mickey as well, and she will play a very significant role - though in a somewhat different capacity than Season 2."

Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer upholds a strong case for a satisfying legal series that entertains and appeals with an effective presentation.

DaCosta made her debut as Andrea Freeman during the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer. The character was introduced as the brilliant prosecutor working to prove that chef Lisa Trammell (played by Lana Parrilla) is guilty of murdering a real estate developer. This places her at odds with defense lawyer Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) as they each fight to win the case. The role is another standout in DaCosta's long career, which includes Chicago Med andOur Kind of People.

Season 3 Is Based On The Gods of Guilt

The Lincoln Lawyer, created by David E. Kelley, was renewed for a third season just a few weeks after the end of Season 2. Like its predecessors, Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes, based on the fifth book, The Gods of Guilt, in The Lincoln Lawyer novel series by author Michael Connelly. Along with DaCosta and series lead Garcia-Ruffo, other returning cast members include Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, and Angus Sampson as Cisco.

"We're thrilled to bring back The Lincoln Lawyer for a third season," Netflix's VP of scripted content for the U.S. and Canada, Peter Friedlander, said when Season 3 was announced. "Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez have taken us deeper into Mickey Haller's world, building out characters and stories that have connected with our global audience, and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for everyone's favorite lawyer," the statement continued.

Per the official synopsis, the series follows "hotshot Los Angeles lawyer Mickey Haller who restarts his career after being sidelined in an accident. Working out of his trademark Lincoln Navigator, he takes on a murder case." Season 1 was based on The Brass Verdict, Connelly's second novel in the series. The show premiered on Netflix in May 2022 and received largely positive reviews from critics.

The Lincoln Lawyer was renewed for a second season in June that same year. Season 2, based on Connelly's 2011 novel, The Fifth Witness, streamed in two parts on Netflix with the first batch of episodes debuting in June 2023, followed by more episodes in Aug.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 17, 2024.
