MGK Brings Out Lainey Wilson for Surprise Duet of ‘Lonely Road' at Nashville Show: Watch

When artists perform in a music-centric city such as Nashville, the chances are always high that they will welcome a special guest or two. Machine Gun Kelly did just that, bringing some country-music star power to his acoustic set on Tuesday night (Sept. 24) as part of the 107.5 River on the Rooftop concert series at Nashville's Skydeck on Broadway in downtown Music City.

"I'm gonna need some help. Is my friend Lainey Wilson in here?" MGK asked the crowd as he welcomed the reigning CMA and ACM entertainer of the year Wilson to the stage to join him on "Lonely Road." MGK previously recorded the song with Wilson's labelmate Jelly Roll, who was in Albany, N.Y., that evening, headlining a show on his Beautifully Broken Tour.

During the MGK/Wilson collaboration, the "Heart Like a Truck" singer took over the second verse on the song, infusing it with her signature soulful country drawl, offering some powerful high notes particularly in the moments when the song interpolates the John Denver classic "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

The Wilson duet at the "Bloody Valentine" singer's Skydeck on Broadway show isn't his only country connection this week. On Thursday (Sept. 26), MGK will also perform during the People's Choice Country Awards, which will air from the Grand Ole Opry House.
