BEACON HILL —After over 30 years in business, Beacon Hill stalwart Savenor’s Butcher Shop & Market, famously known as Julia Child’s go-to butcher in Boston, has closed down. The news comes after a recent change in ownership when local seafood purveyor Wulf’s Fish acquired the Savenor’s business in May. Savenor’s second location in Cambridge remains open.

DOWNTOWN CROSSING —After nearly 30 years, Downtown Crossing mainstay Silvertone Bar & Grill is calling it quits. Owner David Savoie told the Boston Globe that the decision was made due to the office crowds that never returned to the neighborhood in the wake of the pandemic. The bar shut down on June 1, and then, in a heartwarming move, briefly re-opened for the Celtics parade later in the month before officially officially turning off the lights.

FENWAY — Chef and restaurateur Tiffani Faison shut down her disco-ready pizzeria, Tenderoni’s, after 18 months in business. A smaller outpost of the pizza shop remains open in downtown Boston food hall High Street Place.

KENDALL SQUARE — Owners Peter and Colleen McCarthy shut down local farm-to-table pioneer EVOO (named after the acronym for extra virgin olive oil) and next-door pizzeria Za on June 1 and June 14, respectively. An Arlington location of Za, near the McCarthys’ home, is staying open, according to the Boston Globe.

MATTAPAN —Hometown hero Pit Stop Barbecue is no more. The local Southern-style barbecue legend, open for over 30 years in Mattapan, closed up shop earlier this year. “After many years of serving the community, it was a tough decision to make, but one that was best for our situation,” the team explained in response to customers mourning the loss on Instagram. “The workforce and entrepreneurial markets aren’t what they used to be, so seeing the future as a profitable one for Pit Stop Barbecue was a stretch at best.”

QUINCY —La Paloma, a Mexican institution in Quincy, is closing down after 41 years in order for owners Michael Walsh and Stephen Dwyer to retire and spend more time with their families, according to the Boston Globe. The restaurant’s last day of service is June 29.

QUINCY — Another local icon, the Wheelhouse Diner, is serving its last plates of corned beef hash and eggs on June 30 after a nearly 80-year run. The closure comes in the wake of a months-long dispute between the owner and the landlord, which resulted in the eviction of the business, MassLive.com reports.

SOUTH END —Chef and restaurateur Michael Serpa has ceased operations at Atlantico, his four-year-old seafood-focused tapas spot that took its inspiration from the Iberian Peninsula. Serpa’s other restaurants Little Whale and Select Oyster Bar, both in Back Bay, remain open. Atlantico’s last day open was June 14.

WEST END —Porters Bar & Grillhas closed this month after over 24 years in business. Not too shabby of a run, as the team put it in a Facebook post announcing the closure. Its last day in operation was June 22.
