Black Friday 2024: What time Costco, Home Depot, Kohl's, JCPenney and more stores open

Black Friday sales officially started days ago but that won't stop shoppers from heading to stores and shopping online early Friday.

Why it matters:Nov. 29 is expected to be the most popular shopping day of the holiday season and year in stores and online, according to holiday predictions from the National Retail Federation and Sensormatic Solutions.

• A record 183.4 million shoppers are expected to shop between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday with Black Friday projected to be the busiest day, according to the NRF survey.
• 131.7 million people are expected to shop in stores and online Black Friday, the survey found.

The big picture:Advertised Black Friday bargains will drive shoppers to stores and Target is looking to appeal to Swifties by releasing exclusive Taylor Swift merchandise in its stores first.

Black Friday giveaways 2024: JCPenney, Kohl's, Lowe's and more

Zoom in:Here's how JCPenney, Kohl's, Lowe's and Bass Pro Shops are treating early shoppers Friday:

• The first 200 shoppers at every Kohl's store nationwide will win a prize ranging from Kohl's Cash to a family beach vacation in Florida.
• Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are giving the first 250 customers at each store early Friday a mystery promo card valued between $10 and $500 that can be redeemed Dec. 6-28.
• At Lowe's, the first 25 MyLowe's Rewards members to visit in-store will receive a holiday "bucket of gifts" valued up to $150.

JCPenney will have multiple giveaways Friday dropping in stores at 5am, 9am, 1pm and 5pm local time.

• At 5am, JCPenney will have a snow globe giveaway and give out mystery coupons with one winner per store getting a $500 off coupon.
• There will be a chance to win a stand mixer at 9am and lab-grown diamonds at 1pm.
• At 5pm stores will hand out Golden Totes, which include a coupon for an extra 10% off through Dec. 24.

What they're saying:JCPenney CEO Marc Rosen told Axios that it's the first time the retailer has had a snow globe giveaway since 2015.

• "We often hear about nostalgic collectors, so we're excited to bring it back for our customers this year," Rosen said, adding that customers are prioritizing value.
