‘Blink Twice’ Studio Releases Content Warning Before Movie is Released in Theaters
If it wasn't evident that Blink Twicewas going to be a dark watch, the studio behind the film is now warning audiences before they head to the theater and watch the movie.
Ahead of the movie's big release on August 23rd, Amazon MGM Studios released a content warning on their social media pages warning viewers that some of what happens in the film might be too triggering for viewers.
"We are proud to finally share Blink Twicewith audiences in theaters worldwide this week," the statement said. "Blink Twiceis a psychological thriller about the abuse of power. While this is a fictionalized movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence - including sexual violence."
The studio also set up a website for fans to check out if they need to access resources for support. The film already received an R rating for, "strong violent content, sexual assault, drug use and language throughout, and some sexual references," according to the website, which also contains information to contact RAINN and No More.
If you're looking for a few more details of what to expect, according to the movie's official website: "When tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun soaked days and everyone's having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive."
Blink Twiceis Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut and she also co-wrote the script with E.T. Feignbaum.
RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline. It’s free and it’s confidential. You can get help 24/7 in English or Spanish by calling 800.656.HOPE (4673) or chatting online at hotline.RAINN.org.
