Minnesota Timberwolves make NBA Draft splash trading for Rob Dillingham
The Minnesota Timberwolves made a completely unexpected trade on the night of the NBA Draft, acquiring the No. 8 pick and Rob Dillingham from the San Antonio Spurs.
The Wolves were one of the quietest teams leading up to the draft, but swooped in to acquire one of the flashiest players in the class. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news, writing, "Minnesota has traded for the eighth pick and Rob Dillingham, source tells ESPN."
Wojnarowski later reported that Minnesota is dealing a 2031 unprotected first and a protected 2030 pick swap to the Spurs. This move seems like a massive win for the Timberwolves, who found a long-term backcourt partner next to rising superstar Anthony Edwards. The Wolves were in championship contention last season as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, and their odds are only increasing as the offseason progresses.
