NBA Star LeBron James Makes Major Announcement on Basketball Future
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is headlining the USA Basketball roster for their upcoming Paris Olympics run. While James is nearing the end of his NBA career at age 39, he is still one of the best players in basketball, and will have the opportunity to show that on the world stage this summer.
While it remains unknown how many years James has left in the NBA, this will be his last appearance at the Olympics. It was announced by James that he will not be competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, making this run in Paris the last one he will be a part of.
"No, I won’t be there,” James told Drew Weisholtz of Today! "I’m getting the hell out of that city when the Olympics come to Los Angeles. All right, I’ll live there all year. I will not be in Los Angeles in ‘28. I’m getting out of there."
While James loves Los Angeles, he will spend the 2028 summer elsewhere while the city will be busier than ever. Already one of the busiest cities in America, Los Angeles is certain to see some unprecedented traffic during the 2028 Olympics.
Considering his age, it may have been reasonable to assume James would not be playing in the 2028 Olympics, but the 39-year-old star has already proven this summer how gracefully his game could age in the role he is playing for Team USA.
As NBA legend Kevin Garnett pointed out, James looks like he could play another decade in this role where his primary focus is facilitating instead of taking on a large scoring load.
