NFL makes major announcement about future of ‘Good Morning Football’

NFL makes major announcement about future of ‘Good Morning Football’ NFL Network reporter Jamie Erdahl.

After a months-long hiatus, popular NFL Network show “Good Morning Football” will be making its return to the airwaves, NFL Media announced on Monday.

Three of the show’s four original hosts — Jamie Erdahl, who’s been out on maternity leave during the show’s hiatus, Peter Schrager, who’s also a senior national NFL writer for Fox Sports, and Kyle Brandt — will be returning.

In addition to Brandt, Schrager and Erdahl, “GMFB” is adding two additional hosts — Sherree Burruss, who's a host and sideline reporter for NFL Network, and Akbar Gbajabiamila, a five-year NFL veteran who had stints with the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins from 2003 to 2008.

Gbajabiamila has also hosted several popular shows including “NFL Fantasy Live,” NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” and CBS’ “The Talk.”

The Athletic reported in June that Brandt will “remain on the show in a hybrid model where he will be in a New York studio for at least part of the time.”

Jason McCourty, who hosts the “Double Coverage podcast” with his twin brother Devin, announced in June he would not be coming back to "GMFB," citing the show’s move from the East to the West coast as the reason why.

While it was on hiatus, “GMFB” has aired just a few select episodes over the last few months — three during the 2024 NFL Draft and one during the 2024 schedule release.

Originally airing weekdays from 9-11 a.m. ET, “GMFB” will get a new 8-10 a.m. ET timeslot to better accommodate its cross-country move from New York to NFL headquarters in Los Angeles as a cost-saving measure by the league, who no longer wanted to rent studio space from regional sports network SNY in New York.
