Irish village 'like a movie set' is known for its gorgeous scenery and old castle ruins
Time and again, the picturesque village of Inistioge in Co Kilkenny has been lauded as one of Ireland's prettiest locations. It's even been compared to a "movie set".
Snuggled in the scenic county, Inistioge is a historical gem bursting with personality, maintaining that quaint Irish allure, dotted with old castle ruins and ecclesiastical sites.
Back in the days of the 18th and 19th centuries, Inistioge was abuzz as an integral part of the Woodstock Estate, under the stewardship of the Tighe family. Both the village and estate are drenched in heritage and surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, including the esteemed Woodstock Arboretum, a sanctuary for diverse tree species from regions like Asia and South America.

There's even folklore that tells of the place being the battleground where the ancient Irish tribe, the Osraige, bested Olaf Cuaran, the King of Dublin, way back in AD 964.
With its wealth of archaeological wonders, Inistioge is honored as a National Monument and enjoys protection thanks to the National Monuments Act.
