Wow: Breeze Airways Has Added 29 Airports To Its Route Map This Year

Breeze Airways' first revenue-generating flight took place in May 2021. More than three years later, the carrier's fleet comprises 44 aircraft: 31 A220-300s, 10 E190s, and three E195s. In the future, its Embraers will be retired or used on charter services.

A quick summary: November/December

According to Breeze's latest schedule submission to OAG, the carrier plans 172 routes (all domestic) involving 30 states in November/December. There are 8,370 roundtrip flights, equivalent to 137 services daily.

Activity varies massively by day, just like it does with Allegiant. Just 9% of Breeze's flights are on the less-popular Tuesday, with lower fares, against 17% for the much more popular Monday, Friday, and Sunday.

Despite Breeze's continued growthremember, it is still very youngit only has a 0.63% share of the enormous US domestic market. Breeze operates one in every 157 of the country's flights. It will be fascinating to see how that changes in the coming years.

How many of them can you name?

Airports that joined Breeze's map: 2024

Analyzing the airline's network since its first flight shows that 29 airports have joined its route network this year, as listed below and shown on the following map. Unsurprisingly, it was Breeze's first time at all of them.

  • January: Burlington, Gulfport Biloxi, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
  • February: Evansville, Grand Junction, Madison, Myrtle Beach, New York Stewart, Ogden
  • April: Mobile International (not the busier Mobile Regional), San Diego
  • May: Denver, Greenville/Spartanburg, New Bern
  • June: Dallas/Fort Worth, Manchester, Pensacola
  • September: Ogdensburg, Washington Dulles
  • October: Bangor, Lancaster, Lansing, Portsmouth
  • November: Daytona Beach, Erie, Newark, South Bend
  • December: Montrose, Tweed New Haven

No airport has exited its network this year, although Nashville and Tulsa did in 2023.

The biggest standouts?

Perhaps they are the busy airports: Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Newark, San Diego, and Washington Dulles. However, except for San Diego and Washington Dulles, Breeze has only one route from each.

Ogdensburg is Breeze's first airport near the Canadian border and its first attempt to tap Canadian passengers. It is not too far from Ottawa and Montreal. It serves the New York airport from Washington Dulles (daily) and, starting on February 13, from Orlando (three times weekly).

Breeze's Orlando route to Lancaster provides the Pennsylvania airport's only scheduled jet service. It is the only passenger airline serving Mobile International (which joined its network the month after Avelo pulled out) and Ogden.

When it gets its first Breeze flight on December 10, it will be the second operator at Tweed New Haven (with the excellent IATA code HVN). Thus far, 10 routes are bookable through the spring. One aircraft seems to stay overnight at the Connecticut airport, with flights leaving as early as 07:00.

Only one new airport in 2025 (for now)

When writing on October 29, only Wilmington (North Carolina) will join Breeze's map next year, although that figure will obviously rise. It will fly to Wilmington on February 13 with four bookable routes. Like many of Breeze's routes, each addition will be flown twice-weekly.

  • Fort Myers (starts February 14); never served before
  • Hartford (February 13); never served before
  • Orlando (February 13); last served by Avelo in 2022-2023 (Sanford by Allegiant 2008-2013)
  • Providence (February 14); never served before

Breeze will only serve Wilmington on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, when there will be two arrivals and two take-offs daily.
