1923 Season 2 Gets a Promising Update
Filming on Season 2 of the Paramount+ original series 1923is set to begin later this year, with production with the main cast likely starting “very soon,” per TV Line.
1923,a Western drama, is a prequel to Paramount Network’s Yellowstoneand a sequel to the Paramount+ series 1883.The show, which revolves around a generation of the Dutton family andstars Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton and Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton, was renewed for its second season in February 2023.

Season 2 is gearing up for a darker tone, which could include more Dutton family drama.In the first season, the Duttons dealt with life in the early 20th century, facing challenges like pandemics, droughts, the Great Depression and the repeal of Prohibition.
The new season will also feature a few new cast members, including Augustus Prew ofThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.Prew will play the role of Paul, described as a dapper, bookish, young British man on a passenger ship. Other new additions to the cast include Janet Montgomery (New Amsterdam)and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter).

The hotly-anticipated Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison, adds an actor from the ABC series, Lost, to its main cast.
The Series Focuses on Physical Filming Locations
1923has been praised for its use of filming locations, rather than relying on CGI for its visual effects. Crews utilized at least 13 filming locations for the series, of which nine were located in Montana. For instance, Uptown Butte, Montana was transformed into Bozeman, which involved changing the exteriors of some of the city's historical structures. Crews also painted around town to make it look authentic to the time. Additionally, Butte’s Sheriff’s Department became the Bozeman Sheriff’s Officeon the show.
The Taylor Sheridan series premiered in 2022 and had 7.4 million viewers, setting a record for Paramount+ to become the streaming service’s most successful debut ever. Season 1 of 1923has a 90% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Mirren earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the series. The series itself was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Television Drama series category. Sheridan has more Yellowstonespinoff series in the works. The main series will end with Season 5B, premiering on Paramount+ on Nov. 10. One spinoff, tentatively titled The Madisonwill reportedly star Kurt Russell.
