Knocking twice using a single knuckle on the trackpad will take a screenshot while doing the same process with two knuckles starts a screen recording. Swiping one finger along the left edge of the trackpad to adjust the brightness while doing the same on the right edge will control the volume. Swiping along the top will let you seek the video timeline.

You can also minimise a window by pressing the upper left corner of the trackpad or close a window by pressing the upper right corner. When you press on the trackpad and feel it click, that’s feedback from an X-axis linear vibration motor as the trackpad has no moving part and does not physically click.

Powerful performance in a slim package

Typically, when you make a laptop thin and light, it comes at the sacrifice of cooling, and by extension, performance. However, HUAWEI has managed to find workarounds for these limitations on the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2024.

Firstly, there are intake vents on both sides of the body, the front hinge of the screen, and the keyboard to channel cool air into the chassis. With air coming in from multiple sections of the laptop, heat dissipation has been increased by 37%.

On the inside, HUAWEI segmented the printed circuit board (PCB) into 3 sections which it calls Cloud Falcon Architecture. This unconventional design saves 8% more space than the previous generation.

Thanks to the additional space, the laptop now comes with larger dual Shark Fin fans that feature streamlined pressurised fan blades that follow the airflow path to smooth it out and minimise aerodynamic loss. As a result, system flow resistance has been reduced by 19%, allowing hot air to reach the exhaust vents more effectively.

With a beefier cooling system, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2024 can be equipped with up to an Intel^® Core^TM Ultra 9 processor with Intel Arc graphics paired with 2TB of storage using an SSD and 32GB of DDR5 RAM.

There’s very little productivity software out there that can even stress this machine. For reference, the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2024 exported a 1:22, 1080p video on Capcut, 61% faster than the previous gen model.

System resources are also more intelligent allocated using HUAWEI’s proprietary Super Turbo technology which determines the running status of the CPU, GPU, memory, hard disk, and battery, and applies optimisation policies in conjunction with Windows to deliver higher performance more efficiently. Besides that, Super Turbo helps to boot up Windows within 10 seconds.

To help capture as much of the Wi-Fi signal as possible, Huawei has designed a 3D Metaline Antenna which achieves a wider connection range, more stable connections, and improved performance in weak signal environments.

Huawei claims the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2024 can achieve a connection range of up to 330 meters in open environments within a horizontal and vertical 360° range.

Time-saving software features
