Fans have heaped praise on Kobbie Mainoo after England released a clip of the 19-year-old in training on social media.

In less than a year since making his first senior league start, Mainoo has announced himself as an integral member of Erik ten Hag's Man United side and one of England's brightest prospects.

After a sensational breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford, Mainoo was handed his first England cap in March in a friendly against Brazil before starting against Belgium three days later.

Named in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024, Mainoo has continued to showcase his skills in training.

In a clip since widely circulated online, Mainoo can be seen in a practice match with his fellow England stars, showcasing his strength by holding off Joe Gomez before stylishly backheeling the ball through the Liverpool defender's legs.

One fan insisted that 'the future is here', whilst another claimed Mainoo has the potential to surpass his teammate, Ballon d'Or contender Jude Bellingham.

Another questioned why starlet has not started alongside Declan Rice thus far in Germany.

'I'm sorry but how does southgate watch him do this in training and still think "Nah, I'd rather play Connor Gallagher."'

An excited United fan wrote: 'I haven't been this gassed about a United player since Rashford/Martial broke through. The talent is too obvious.'

Another agreed: 'Every single training clip that comes out with team drills, Kobbie is quite clearly the best player on the park.'

After taking on Gomez, another clip showed Mainoo playing a deft one-two before finding space in the box to slot home from close range.

Despite qualifying top of Group C with just one goal conceded in three games, the Three Lions have so far flattered to deceive in Germany.

Mainoo made a late cameo in England's victory over Serbia, before remaining on the bench for their draw with Denmark days later.

Southgate opted to tinker with his midfield for the clash with Slovenia on Tuesday, but it was Chelsea star Gallagher that started alongside Rice, with Mainoo replacing him at half-time in the 0-0 draw.
