In campaign video, PH turns real-life brawl into reel-life love fest
PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has tackled the thorny problem of race relations by producing an election campaign video featuring a shopkeeper and a customer whose real-life brawl went viral recently.
The two men in the brawl, Goh Yap Eng and P Inthiran, were brought together in a mock “rematch”, with PH candidate Joohari Ariffin playing peacemaker as all three enjoyed some durian together.
“We must sit together, live together and unite, only then can we achieve progress,” he said in the video, a light-hearted reenactment of what transpired between the pair, when Inthiran was knocked out cold several times.
Their fight spawned many memes online as netizens made light of the situation. The two men filed police reports against each other but eventually withdrew their reports and reconciled with a handshake.
In reel life, Inthiran is shown in the video entering the shop with a helmet and a parang in each hand and calling Goh to come out. Joohari then steps in, trying to resolve a tense situation, before realising that Inthiran had brought a durian in the helmet to share with Goh.
The parang is used to split the thorny durian, and all three enjoy the fruits of their harmonious relationship as the PH credits roll with a banner on racial unity.
