Comedian, wife nabbed for allegedly spreading police internal info
PETALING JAYA: A comedian and former radio presenter as well as his wife have been arrested to assist in investigations for allegedly spreading internal information related to the Shah Alam police headquarters on the Telegram app.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the 38-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife were nabbed at the police station in Section 9 Shah Alam.
“Both were detained at 7pm yesterday,” the daily said, quoting a source.
The source also said the police seized the couple’s mobile phones before bringing them to the Shah Alam court to obtain a remand order.
A message about Bukit Aman logistics and technology department director Sahabudin Abd Manan’s visit to the Shah Alam police headquarters had gone viral in the past few days.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the couple’s arrest, adding that they had been remanded for two days.
He also said the case would be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for provocation, Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for insulting behaviour.
