Danica Sotto undergoes gallbladder removal surgery
Danica Sotto bounces back from a health scare.
Opening up about her bout with gallstones through a social media post on May 28, 2024, Danica reveals going through a major surgery.
DANICA OVERCOMES GALLSTONES
Halfway through the month of May, Danica decides to put an end to her health problem by having her gallbladder removed for good.
Along with a series of photos to recap how her week has been, is a caption that reads (published as is): "Life lately … [emoji]
"Feeling much better a week after cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery).
"They had to remove my gb due to chronic pain and gallstones.
"If you have experienced gallbladder pain you know what I’m talking about. Sakit talaga siya diba?!!"
She extends her thanks to people who stood by her side throughout the process, saying, "Grateful for my family and friends for all the prayers and to our angels here at home."

IMPLICATIONS OF HAVING NO GALLBLADDER
After Danica's cholecystectomy, she can't do any strenuous activities, such as lifting anything heavy for a couple of weeks.
"Extra effort sila since I cannot carry our baby Luc yet. [emoji]," she explains.
But even with a freshly-incised abdomen, the 42-year-old celebrity mom is able to still see her kids' milestones.
"We also made it to Mic’s game last Sat. Super happy we made it kahit medyo sore pa.
"Life is full of surprises but we can choose to be joyful in the midst of life’s challenges. [emojis]"
According to the National Health Service, living without a gallbladder does not, in any way, disrupt day-to-day activities.
WHAT TO AVOID
Instead of being stored in the gallbladder, the bile that will be produced by the liver will just drip continuously into the digestive system.
Avoid consuming foods high in saturated fats:
- meat pies
- sausages and fatty cuts of meat
- butter, ghee and lard
- cream
- hard cheeses
- cakes and biscuits
- food containing coconut or palm oil
