Marjorie Barretto proud of Julia Barretto's wisdom, maturity
Ask mothers why they are proud of their children, and they will give you a long list of reasons.
Celebrity mom Marjorie Barretto did just that during the advanced screening of Secret Ingredient on April 28, 2024, at Seda Hotel in Bonifacio Global City.
She enumerated the things that make her so proud of daughter Julia Barretto, "Her strength, the kindness of her heart, her generosity, her intelligence."
Reclaiming the "good daughter" comment that some netizens used to bash Julia online, Marjorie continued, "She's really, really a good daughter. I'm the one who has the right to say that.
"She is a good sister. She's a good daughter. She's a good friend. She's a great partner. So I think I'm proud of her as a whole.
"Sa dami na pinagdaanan niya, naging mabuting tao po siya. Di ba? Dapat suplada siya. Dapat mainitin ang ulo niya. Dapat galit siya sa mundo.
"Pero hindi. She's a good person. So I'm proud of her."

MARJORIE BARRETTO ON DAUGHTER JULIA'S WISDOM AND MATURITY
Marjorie also highlighted Julia's maturity, particularly in navigating the intricate landscape of the entertainment industry.
This became evident to Marjorie after watching Julia's interview on the YouTube show ToniTalks, where she opened up about the controversy surrounding her relationship with Gerald Anderson and subtly addressed the recent reconciliation with Bea Alonzo.
Marjorie said of Julia, "I was so proud of her na ang galing na pag-articulate. Ang galing ng choice of words niya.
"Grabe na pala yung wisdom niya. I was so proud na yun, opeful pa rin siya sa buhay niya.
"And she sees na marami pang puwedeng mangyari sa buhay niya."

She added, "Sa interview niya, I really had to message her para sabihin, 'Grabe, you're so intelligent na, you're so smart...' na seasoned na siya."
Marjorie also mentioned how her daughter has embraced one of her constant reminders: to surrender the things she can't control.
She said, "That's my constant reminder. I think they also see that in me. That life is always going to be difficult.
"But you have to always find joy in the difficulty. Because you can't always be problematic everyday.
"Because problems will come. Twice a day, three times a day. So hindi ka dapat lamunin ng problema or difficulties.
"You have to embrace it... You have to take on the challenge.
"Pero grabe siya. Kasi sa interview, she said something like yung regrets, it's too heavy to carry.
"Wow, kahit ako naman na. Hindi ko maipu-put into words yun. So I think she'll be fine in life. She's really strong."
MARJORIE BARRETTO ON RAISING INDEPENDENT KIDS
Marjorie couldn't help but tear up at times, witnessing how much her children have grown, embracing challenges independently, and becoming self-reliant.
She said, "It's always nice for a mother to see a child [become] independent. Although, siyempre nakaka-sad when they need less of you.
"So ngayon, hindi na siya dependent on the little things. It's more on emotional na lang dependence niya sa akin."
This is why she expresses her love for them whenever she gets the chance.
In Julia's case, Marjorie mentioned that one of her daughter's love languages is words of affirmation.
"Yung words of affirmation, sobrang importante sa kanya yun.
"After a movie, she'll always say what matters to her is my opinion of her, of what she did, her acting, ganun.
"So, gustung-gusto niya yun sa akin. Yung lagi ko siyang nire-reassure na magaling siya."
Quality time is also an important way for Julia to express love for her family.
Marjorie shared that despite Julia's busy schedule, she makes it a point to spend quality time with the family whenever she can.
Julia often makes surprise visits, sometimes staying for an afternoon to catch up and chat.
"Bigla na lang siya dumarating sa house and then she spends quality time with us. It's not very often.
"Pero kunyari, when she's supposed to fly out to a different country, like her last movie, Japan.
"Kaming dalawa lang, magde-date kami. We'll have the whole afternoon together. We'll chat.
"And iyan, katulad dito, since she's been back, I've only seen her once or twice, pero bigla na lang may nagdo-doorbell, andiyan na siya.
"Kahit na nakapambahay lang, just to catch up..."
They also use FaceTime frequently, ensuring they stay connected even when Julia is traveling.
"And then a lot of FaceTime. She really makes time. She makes time. So when she was in Jakarta for the film there, before getting dressed, naka-FaceTime si Julia."
