Relive the glitz and glam of the 7th Eddys on AllTV
Experience anew the glitz, glamour, and victories of the 7th Eddys (Entertainment Editors' Choice), staged on July 7 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City. The event, directed by Eric Quizon, airs on AllTV tonight, July 14, at 10 p.m.
The star-studded awards night, organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), was highlighted by A-list performances and showcased a roster of distinguished acting award winners.
Julia Montes won Best Actress for "Five Breakups and a Romance," while Piolo Pascual took home Best Actor for "Mallari." Charlie Dizon, who tied with Montes for her role in "Third World Romance," was unable to attend. Montes and Pascual were also honored as Box-Office Heroes for their films, alongside Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera for "Rewind" and Kathryn Bernardo for "A Very Good Girl."
Eddys Movie Icons for 2024, Nova Villa, Leo Martinez, Eva Darren, and Gina Alajar, received their trophies personally. Sen. Lito Lapid, another awardee, was represented by his nephew, lawyer DX Lapid. "About Us But Not About Us" won Best Film, with Jun Robles Lana earning Best Director for the same film. Gladys Reyes won Best Supporting Actress for "Apag," and Enchong Dee won Best Supporting Actor for "GomBurZa."
The event was hosted by 6th Eddys Best Actress Janine Gutierrez, Kapuso Millennial It Girl Gabbi Garcia, and actor Jake Ejercito. Special performances were rendered by award-winning singer Jed Madela, OPM icon and singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, drag queens Rampa Reynas, and promising young artists Elisha Ponti and Andrea Gutierrez. Veteran radio-online personality Fu served as the red carpet host.
Presenters included 6th Eddys acting winners Elijah Canlas, Max Eigenmann, Mon Confiado, and Nikki Valdez, as well as Sen. Bong Revilla, Congresswoman Lani Mercado, Cedrick Juan, James Reid, Jose Javier Reyes, Joross Gamboa, Arnell Ignacio, RS Francisco, Liza Reyes of Globe Telecom, Kelley Day, Michael Sager, Jeric Gonzales, Miss New Zealand Universe 2024 Franki Russell, Christophe Sommereux, Beaver Magtalas, Khai Flores, Shaira Tweg, and PCSO acting director Imelda Papin.
Korina Sanchez received the Joe Quirino Award, while siblings CJ and Peach Caparas accepted the posthumous award for their late father, director Carlo J. Caparas. Director-producer Perci Intalan accepted the awards for "About Us But Not About Us," and Bryan Dy of Mentorque Productions, producer of "Mallari," was named Rising Producer of the Year. Former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson and former House Speaker Sonny Belmonte (on behalf of his daughter, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte) received the Isah V. Red Award. Actor Leandro Baldemor designed and created the new Eddys trophy.
Several nominees, including Romnick Sarmenta and Keempee de Leon, also attended the awards night. With the collaboration of Newport World Resorts and AllTV, SPEEd's 7th Eddys was supported by Globe Telecom and iFern/Kim's Diary. Additional partners included DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos, Mayor Albee Benitez, Beautéderm by Rhea-Anicoche Tan, Unilab, Frontrow, Kat Corpus Atelier, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Sen. Bong Revilla, Camille Villar, Sen. Nancy Binay, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, Rep. Arjo Atayde, Emelette Gorospe, Rowena Gutierrez, Kamiseta, Casa Juan, and Echo Jham Entertainment Production. Juancho Robles, Chan Robles & Company (CPAs) served as the official auditor.
