Anjanette Abayari recalls wrestling a python during her 'Darna' days
Anjanette Abayari is one of the Filipina actresses who played the famous Pinoy superheroine Darna.
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" the former beauty queen looked back on her days playing the iconic character.
"That was mahirap na mahirap," Anjanette described when asked about her flying scenes.
According to her, she had to wear a metal steel harness which sometimes leaves "cuts" on her skin.
"I had to hold my pose and smile," Anjanette said.
The 53 year-old actress also remembered the time she had to deal with real snakes on set.
"'Yong 18 feet python which I wrestled on my own. It's a real python," she said. "I will never forget that. Not many can say that they wrestled an 18 feet python and lived."
Aside from dealing with a python, Anjanette shared that she also had encounters with two cobras.
"One of the cobras decided to turn on me, and started hissing at me. Tapos biglang [it] started slithering on my dress," she recalled.
Anjanette starred in Mars Ravelo's "Mars Ravelo's Darna! Ang Pagbabalik" in 1994 alongside Pilita Corrales, who played the role of Darna's archenemy Valentina.
Before entering showbiz, she joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 1991 and was crowned the Binibining Pilipinas Universe title. However, she resigned due to her non-Filipino citizenship and residency issues.
