LIST: Additional Requirements for Japan Multiple Entry Visa

Visiting Japan is an exciting adventure, especially when you get to explore famous attractions like Mt. Fuji, Cherry Blossoms, and Tokyo Disneyland. However, turning your dream trip into reality requires some essential preparations.

For Filipino citizens, the most important step is securing a Japan visa. This process involves gathering several important documents and meeting specific requirements. With careful preparation and attention to detail, you can successfully obtain your visa and look forward to an unforgettable Japan adventure.

TheEmbassy of Japan in the Philippines recently released additional visa requirements that will make it simpler for Philippine Nationals with Considerable Financial Capacity to visit Japan multiple times. The updated rules create a streamlined process for temporary visitors who travel frequently to Japan for purposes of business, tourism, or visiting family.

This will be effective starting June 10, 2024.

The changes allow qualifying applicants to receive multiple-entry visas. This means they won't have to repeatedly apply for single-entry visas, which can be inconvenient. The period of each stay in Japan must be within 90 days.

Applying for A Multiple Entry Visa in Japan: List of Common Requirements

Typically, you need to prepare a following documents to proceed with your visa application:

  1. Passport: Make sure your passport is up-to-date and includes your signature.
  2. Application Form: Fill out the application form and attach a recent facial photo measuring 4.5×3.5cm.
  3. Multiple-Entry Visa Form: Complete the request for a multiple-entry visa form. If you indicate sufficient financial capacity, the Embassy will assess whether you qualify for either a "Multiple-Entry Visa for Temporary Visitor" or a "Multiple-Entry Visa Temporary Visitor Visa for Philippine Nationals with Considerable Financial Capacity."
  4. PSA-Issued Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate: Provide a PSA-issued birth certificate and, if applicable, a marriage certificate for married applicants. Both certificates must be issued within the past year.

This is unnecessary if you have a used Japan visa in your passport.

Here Are The Additional Requirements You Need To Secure For Japan Multiple Entry Visa

The Embassy released the following additional requirements:

  1. PSA-Issued Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate: Provide PSA-issued certificates issued within the past year. However, if these documents are unreadable:
    • Submit a Birth/Marriage certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar;
    • If the Birth Certificate indicates "LATE REGISTRATION," include a Baptismal Certificate and School Record (Form 137);
    • If there is no record of Birth/Marriage in the PSA, submit a Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar along with a Negative Certificate issued by the PSA.
  2. Itinerary in Japan: Present a detailed itinerary outlining your planned activities and destinations during your stay in Japan.

Conditions and Specific Requirements To Be Considered Philippine Nationals with Considerable Financial Capacity

Applicants with Considerable High Income

  1. Applicant’s Bank Certificate: This must show your balance within the last six months. If the Average Daily Balance (ADB) over the past six months is not indicated, you must submit a bank statement to prove transactions within this period.
  2. Applicant’s Tax Payment Certificate: Issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), a copy of this certificate is acceptable. For employees, Form 2316 must have the signatures of both the employer and the employee. Business owners need to provide proof of actual tax payment in addition to the BIR Tax Payment Certificate Form (copy acceptable).
  3. Applicant’s Employment Certificate: This must indicate your period of employment, salary, and position. For business owners, you need to submit the Department of Trade and Industry's "Certificate of Business Name Registration" and a Mayor’s Permit from the City Hall. If you are unable to submit the tax payment and employment certificates due to reasons other than being a retiree, full-time housewife, or unemployed, a letter explaining the reason is required. Students must submit a copy of their school ID or a Certificate of Enrollment.

Spouse or Child of Applicants with Considerable High Income

  1. Proof of Relationship: If you are traveling with family members or dependents, you need to provide proof of relationship. This includes a PSA-issued birth certificate and, if applicable, a marriage certificate.
  2. Passport and Multiple Entry Visa Copy: You must submit a copy of the passport and multiple-entry visa of the person you are proving a relationship with (referred to as "I" above).
