Where to have brunch dates in Metro Manila

1120 House

Location: Metroclub, Estrella Street, corner Amapola Street, Makati City

Spend a very #aesthetic day at 1120 House, a low-key cafe and restaurant that also houses Floret a.k.a. Rustan’s Flower Shop. Shop for the sweetest blooms or simply wander around and enjoy the pretty display before heading to the airy dining area. With lots of greenery, light-wood fixtures, and rattan-backed chairs, the vibe is chic family home. They also have an all-day breakfast menu so brunch can happen as late as you want.

At 1120 House, there are breakfast classics like the Maple Fried Chicken and Waffles (P450) and Classic Eggs’s Benedict (P480) or you can go the healthy but tasty route with the Shirataki Rice Vegetable Bowl (P520) with oyster and enoki mushroom tempura over shirataki rice. There's also a solid menu of coffee, juices and, if you want a boozy brunch, cocktails.

Maker and Made

Location: G/F Milestone at Fifth Avenue, 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City

If you're familiar with Melbourne's cafe culture, Maker and Made's aesthetic will remind you of it, from the grungy but still bright interiors to the coffee bar and the counter displaying the day's freshly baked goods. It's enough to tempt you to indulge in their bread-y brunch dishes, like the Avocado on Toast (P510) which comes with smashed avocados and plump poached eggs that you can have on either sourdough pan de sal or sourdough country toast, or the Tapa Benedict (P520) with braised beef tapa and béarnaiseon sourdough pan de saltoast. If you prefer the sweet route, their signature Pancake (P420) tastes as good as it looks with whipped vanilla ricotta, chocolate mousse, berries compote, and a sourdough strudel. You can have the Pancake savory, too, with crispy bacon and fried egg—though still with a sweet touch thanks to pineapple molasses syrup.

Coffee here is also sacred. If you're feeling adventurous, go for the Barista's Signatures: the Espresso Chai Cola (P265) or the Cold Brew with Fermented Dried Sour Plum (P265). The Sourdough-Oat Milk Latte (P255), an espresso shot with overnight sourdough-steeped oat milk is also an intriguing drink worth a try.

Brunch Bureau

Location: 2/F One Proscenium, Estrella Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati City; 109 Don Carlos Palanca Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City; Building 8, Molito, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Just from their name, you know Brunch Bureau takes brunch seriously. For one, all their locations have the minimalist straight-out-of-Pinterest look of the ideal brunch-with-the-girls spot, with cushioned wooden chairs, pastel green and orange accents, and lots of greenery and natural light. They have a section on their menu for All-Day Brunch, but anything you order works. If you're really craving classic brunch fare though, go for the Brunch Bureau Benedict (P495) served with friedtocino and a torched dalandan hollandaise over butter toasted banana bread—yes, you read that right. Trust us, the sweet-savory combination just works. The Brunch Burger can get messy with a sunny-side egg and whipped kesong puti sandwiched with a juicy beef patty but it's worth it.

While Brunch Bureau offers your classic espresso-based drinks, they also have a Lattes Around the World selection worth checking out—go for the Saigon (P230/hot, P240/cold), their version of a Vietnamese coffee or the Nippon (P220/hot, P230/cold), an Okinawa-inspired cappuccino sweetened with unrefined brown sugar cane. Boozy brunch can happen here, too, with their line of Brunch Cocktails—go classic-with-a-twist with their Yuzu Ichigo Mimosa (P400).

Hilltop by Everyday Coffee Roasters

Location: 14 Hilltop Drive, Horseshoe Village, Quezon City

Hidden inside a village, Hilltop by Everyday Coffee Roasters is quite hard to find, but the low-key, IYKYK location makes it quiet and exclusive—the perfect vibe for slow morning catch-ups. The interiors are also in a trendy minimalist style with muted colors, light-wood furniture, and marble tables in an understated pattern. With lots of natural sunlight streaming in as well, you're sure to take lots of Instagram-worthy photos. Because they're run by Everyday Coffee Roasters, who source single-origin beans to roast themselves, you can be sure that the coffee is good—aside from the usuals, they also have unique signature concoctions like the Honey Lavender Oatmilk Latte (P245) and the Passion Fruit Espresso (P225). But this cafe has also been making waves for their brunch, especially the Hilltop Fry-up (P750) which is loaded with all the good stuff: sausages, bacon, a mushroom fricassee, eggs, a roasted cherry-tomato salad, and croissant toast. If you still have room in your belly for a sweet pastry, the Mt. Matutum Ivoire Croissant (P265) is a crowd-favorite.

Flossom Kitchen + Cafe

Location: 187 N. Averilla Street, San Juan City

We're just a girl (*cue that Madonna song*) so it's really no wonder that we have Flossom Kitchen + Cafe on our staple places for brunch. Not only are the interiors made for the girliest girl—we love the ceiling filled with foliage and the blooms on almost every corner—but the dishes are also so daintily decorated that they're almost too pretty to eat. Flossom offers all-day breakfast that covers all your cravings whether sweet or savory. The Tiramisu Cream (P380) with two fluffy pancakes topped with tiramisu cream, chocolate powder, almond flakes, and powdered sugar may seem too sinful for mornings, but hey, you always deserve a treat. And if you and your friends are feeling ravenous, the Ultimate English Breakfast (P750), a tray laden with all the good stuff from pancakes and sliced baguette to smoked gourmet ham, eggs, baked beans, bacon, and more, is sure to fill you up. Flossom's all-day breakfast comes with a free Americano every 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or you can have your go-to brunch bev from their menu of espresso-based drinks, ice-blended drinks, and even tea and hot chocolate.

Pat & Pat Restaurant

Location: Capitol Greenstreet, Capitol Hills Drive, Quezon City

Pat & Pat Restaurant may be located inside commercial center Capitol Greenstreet, but they still have the sunny vibes of a standalone cafe, thanks to their homey dining space—they have an al fresco area, too, if you like brunch with a view.

Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily, and from their extensive selection, you can tell that they take it seriously. If you crave something stick-to-your-bones hearty, you can't go wrong with Steak & Eggs (P479) served with garlic rice or Martin’s Fried Chicken & Waffles (P349). Need your fill of rice in the morning? The Three Chorizo Fried Rice (P369) with three kinds of longganisa, and topped with sunny-side up eggs and fried espada fish is a must-order. Add P99 to any order of their breakfast food for Brewed Coffee with one free refill or choose from their beverage menu which has everything from coffee and juices to matcha and milkshakes—we're eyeing the Milo Dinosaur (P189) and the Strawberry Matcha (P219).

TMBrew + Bistro

Location: G/F Imperium, Capitol Commons Park, Estancia, Capitol Commons, Pasig City

The Manila Baker may have gone viral for their cookies and cakes, but they're now trying their hand at savory at their new outpost at Capitol Commons. The space is made to look like the cozy home of your favorite tita, with white interiors and curved black accent windows plus cozy cushioned chairs and couches, and blooms on every table. It’s just the right ambiance for your brunch dates.

The food is just as homey, but with an elevated twist. Start the morning right with the TMB Omelette (P450), rich yet fluffy with the added luxe touch of a torched hollandaise. They also have a selection of silogs like the House-Made Angus Tapa (P545) and the Angus Corned Beef (P545). If you still find yourself hankering for something sweet, you can also indulge in the Strawberry French Toast (P450) topped with lots of syrup and juicy fresh strawberries. This bistro also offers a solid coffee selection—after all, "brew" is in the name. Even if you don’t enjoy coffee that much, the Honey Oat Latte (P180) could make you a convert.
