You Can Now Add Music To Your Profile On Instagram
Your social media account is more than just a digital space; it’s a reflection of who you are, a curated extension of your personality, and a place where you introduce yourself to the online world.
Just like decorating a home, you choose the colors, themes, and elements that resonate with you, creating an aesthetic that feels uniquely yours. While what we share online may only scratch the surface of our real lives, the ability to customize our profiles to our liking is one of the things we love most about social media.
Just recently, Instagram introduced a new feature that adds an extra layer of personalization to your profile. In a nostalgic nod to the MySpace era of the 2000s, Instagram now allows users to add a song to their profile.
The music you select will appear prominently in the bio area of your profile. Unlike MySpace, however, these songs won’t autoplay when someone visits your page. Instead, visitors will have the option to play and pause the track at their leisure, making the experience more user-friendly and less intrusive.
How To Add Music To Your Instagram Profile
Adding a song to your Instagram profile is a straightforward process, and it offers you the flexibility to change the track whenever you want. Here’s how you can do it:
- Navigate to Your Profile: Open the Instagram app and go to your profile page.
- Click on "Edit Profile": Just below your bio, you’ll find the "Edit Profile" option.
- Tap on it.
- Select the Music Option: You’ll see a designated box for music within the edit profile section. Click on it to proceed.
- Choose Your Song: Browse through the extensive library of tracks available on Instagram and select the one that best fits your vibe.
The best part? Instagram’s music library is vast, so you’re likely to find almost any song you want to feature on your profile. You can update the track as often as you like, keeping your profile fresh and aligned with your current mood or tastes.
A Star-Studded Launch: Instagram’s Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter
To celebrate the launch of this new feature, Instagram teamed up with pop singer and crowd favorite Sabrina Carpenter. Instagram users got an exclusive first listen to her new track "Taste" through this feature. Sabrina's official Instagram profile included a teaser of the song before the full release of her album Short n’ Sweet, which dropped on Friday, August 23.
This collaboration isn’t just about music—it’s about creating an immersive experience for fans. Instagram is also rolling out features inspired by Sabrina's album. For instance, using specific keywords like "Sabrina" or the coffee cup emoji in your temporary Notes will change the text to a light blue color.
