The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has issued a show cause order against store Dali Everyday Grocery due to alleged sanitary issues and non-compliance with business regulations.

Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles said the DTI had issued the show cause order to Dali on May 29, 2024, which covers 13 instances of complaints by Malayang Konsyumer, a consumer group protecting buyers' rights.

Nograles disclosed that DTI also sought the help of the Department of the Interior and Local Government to identify the localities where Dali has sanitary issues.

Malayang Konsyumer has brought to the attention of the DTI’s Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) the alleged inaction of Dali Everyday Grocery management to address complaints made by the consumers.

“The lack of a corresponding response by Dali, as well as any measure that could have merited the imposition of regulatory sanctions is truly alarming,” Malayang Konsumer said in a separate statement.

The Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau of the DTI said it would look into the matter and take appropriate action to ensure Dali’s compliance with the Consumer Act.

''Further, we will endorse the matter to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to advise local government units to inspect Dali stores’ compliance with sanitary requirements and business regulations in their respective cities / localities,” the DTI-FTEB said in a statement
