Seven Filipinas included in Fortune's Most Powerful Women Asia 2024 List
Seven Filipinas made it to the Fortune Most Powerful Women Asia list for 2024, representing 100 female executives across a spectrum of industries in the Asia Pacific region.
According to Fortune, over half of the listees are chief executive officers across the Fortune 500 and Global 500, with 26 newcomers including players in artificial intelligence, unicorn founders, and chief financial officers (CFOs).
Below are the women from the Philippines who made the cut, and their respective write-ups:
38. Martha Sazon
GCash president and CEO
Sazon leads GCash, operated by G-Xchange Inc., which currently has over 94 million users. The firm is valued to be $5 billion after a significant investment from Japan’s MUFG, and is now waiting for the proper time to go public.
48. Robina Gokongwei-Pe
Robinsons Retail Holdings president and CEO, director
Gokongwei-Pe, daughter of the late John Gokongwei Jr., oversees Robinsons Retail Holdings which has a network of over 2,400 stores across the country, and over 2,000 franchised drug stores through the brands South Star Drug and The Generics Pharmacy, along with supermarkets, department stores, consumer electronics, and appliance stores.
67. Lorelei Quiambao Osial
Shell Pilipinas president and CEO
Osial is the first woman president and CEO of Shell Pilipinas Corporation, after being appointed in December 2021. She also serves as vice president for global finance operations, after taking on leadership roles in the United Arab Emirates and Iraq.
73. Anna Ma. Margarita Bautista Dy
Ayala Land CEO and president
Dy was appointed as ALI president and chief executive officer in October 2023, after serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer. She was also the sole Filipino included in Forbes’ “Asia’s Power Businesswomen” list in 2023.
82. Lynette Ortiz
Land Bank of the Philippines president and CEO
Ortiz is the 11th president and chief executive of LandBank, after being appointed in May 2023. The state-run lender is mandated to promote countryside development, while remaining financially viable.
85. Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso
Megaworld president
Alfonso joined the publicly listed property developer six months after it was founded in 1990, and took over the president post vacated by billionaire Andrew Tan in June. She was previously chief operating officer, and was director and chairman of the board.
98. Rhoda Huang
Filinvest Development president and CEO
Huang is the first person outside the Gotianun family to run Filinvest Development Corp., which has interests in property development, hospitality, banking, and power. She was previously part of JPMorgan Chase, Credit Suisse Philippines, and BPI Capital.
This year’s list was topped by Luxshare Precision Industry chairwoman and CEO Grace Wang, followed by Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. Group CEO Helen Wong, and Suntory Beverage and Food president and CEO Makiko Ono. —KG, GMA Integrated News
