Walkover triumph for Gilas U18 women
MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas will take an unbeaten record to the semifinals of the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup Division B after completing a sweep in group play with a win by default over Syria yesterday at the Futian Sports Park in Shenzhen, China.
Gilas program director Pat Aquino told The STAR that Syria failed to make it in China due to an undisclosed reason.
The Nationals were assured of a top-seed finish and a semis ticket as early as Tuesday after a 141-18 demolition of Maldives and 89-63 win over Lebanon with Naomi Natalie Panganiban, Jolzyne Myranda Impreso and Alicia Margarett Villanueva leading the way.Indonesia and Malaysia are simultaneously slugging it out.
