Top falcon Almonte ready to spread wings
(UPDATE) LUCILLE Almonte finished her business with the Adamson University and is ready to take her chances in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) as she joins the Rookie Draft.
During her stay with the Lady Falcons, Almonte was exposed to different playing positions, and even played as libero under coach Lerma Giron.
With her playing years halted by the pandemic, the 23-year-old opposite hitter took her coaches advice to take her talents to pro.
"My coaches told me that I should spread my wings and try to go to PVL. That I should also go outside my comfort zone," Almonte said.
Eyeing to prove herself in the big league, Almonte said that she wants to go all out.
"My mindset is to work hard since the intensity this time is different. I have to really work hard and sacrifice."
Having this opportunity at the combine draft, she is grateful she is to join in the first-ever PVL draft.
"Personally, this boosts our confidence especially for me and the other players. This is one of the biggest volleyball leagues. I hope all of us will be given the opportunity to play," she said.
Almonte's fate in professional volleyball will be revealed on July 8 at the Novotel Hotel in Quezon City.
