Camiguin first eBOSS compliant province, says anti-red tape agency

MANILA, Philippines — Camiguin made history as the first province in the Philippines to have all five municipalities with fully established electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS).

Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director-General Ernesto Perez said Mambajao, Catarman, Sagay and Mahinog received their plaques of commendation and seal of e-BOSS compliance from the agency.

The ceremony, which was attended by officials of the concerned local government units (LGUs) as well as those from the, was held during a town hall meeting on Aug. 20, 2024 at the provincial capitol in Mambajao town, Perez said.

Perez told The Manila Times via Viber that the municipality of Guinsiliban was the first LGU to be commended in the province for its fully operational eBOSS in April 2024.

Provincial Vice Governor Rodin Romualdo took pride in the effort of the provincial government and its five towns.

"eBOSS is one of the systems that could help us attain our thrust as LGU because for every government policy, regulation and guidelines, it all boils down to common denominator – efficient and effective delivery of public services," Romualdo said.

Mandated by Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Law and the Joint Memorandum Circular involving four concerned government agencies, the eBOSS will help streamline processes within LGUs through online submission of business permit applications and renewals, digital payment options, and issuance of electronic permits, licenses, or clearances.

Perez hailed the five Camiguin towns for their commitment to streamline government processes and embrace digital transformation.

"This is not merely a compliance to the Ease of Doing Business Law but a resounding affirmation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s vision for a Philippines that is efficient, accessible, and investor-friendly."

A fully operational eBOSS will help Camiguin attract both local and foreign strategic investments that will further improve the robust tourism industry in the province, said Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo.

"Rest assured that here in Camiguin you won't have any problems with ease of doing business and red tape because we are committed to making it really easy for investors, for businessmen, and constituents to access our services and engage in business," the governor said.

Perez said the latest commendation brought the total eBOSS-commended LGUs to 55 nationwide, on track for ARTA's goal of 100 LGUs by year-end.
