‘Squid Game’ English remake underway in Hollywood
Ahead of the anticipated release of “Squid Game” season two, Hollywood director David Fincher is reportedly eyeing a remake of the South Korean hit series.
Deadline reported that Fincher is currently developing an English-language version of “Squid Game.”
While little is known about the project, the rumor started several months ago and the project originally was supposed to be a movie but is now looking to be morphed into a series.
Fincher, who’s known for his work in “Fight Club” and “Seven,” is said to commit his time to making “Squid Game” in 2025.
Meanwhile, the official trailer for season two has been released on Thursday, Oct. 31, confirming Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) has returned for another round of the deadly games.
The trailer showed Gi-hun actively interfering with the rules and spoiling the game’s mechanics to new participants. The teaser also showcased other exciting encounters that season two will offer.
Aside from the returning cast such as Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the leader of the masked staff behind the game; Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), a detective who sneaks into the game in search of his brother; and the Recruiter (Gong Yoo), the newest season will also introduce new faces.
Set to join the roster are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an; their participation has been teased in the new trailer.
“Season 2 explores how Gi-hun follows through on his words after leaving the airport,” director Hwang Dong-hyuk explains in a featurette released on Netflix site Tudum. “Gi-hun’s endeavor to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of Season 2.”
“Squid Game” season two will premiere on the streaming platform on Dec. 26.
