SJ Belangel shines in KBL, but Tamayo's big game goes for naught
SJ Belangel continued his stellar play for Daegu KOGAS Pegasus in the 2024-25 Korean Basketball League (KBL)season this past weekend.
The former Ateneo gunner anchored Daegu’s 76-70 escape of Seoul Samsung Thunders at home at Daegu Gymnasium on Saturday.
Belangelshot 3-of-6 from distance for his 23 points, to go with seven assists, five rebounds, and one steal and help his team improve to 2-1 in the young season.

Justin Gutang had eight points, three rebounds, and one assist for Seoul Samsung.
Migs Oczon also balled out in Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus’ thrilling 91-89 win over Suwon KT SonicBoom at Suwon KT Arena on Sunday.
Oczon tallied 20 points on 5-of-12 shooting from deep, alongside six rebounds, four assists, and one block as the road team rose to 2-1.
Carl Tamayo’s 19-point night, however, went for naught as the Changwon LG Sakers lost on the road to Goyang Sono Skygunners, 82-77, at Goyang Sono Arena on Saturday.
He also registered seven rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in Changwon's first loss after a 3-0 start to the season.
Seoul SK Knights kept Seoul Samsung winless with a 76-73 decision at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium on Sunday.

Juan Gomez de Liano had five points, two steals, and one rebound as the SK Knights moved up to 3-1, while Gutang had three points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the Thunders' fourth straight loss.
This season also continued to be a struggle for reigning KBL MVP Ethan Alvano.
His Wonju DB Promy first took a 68-60 loss to Anyang Jung Kwan Jang at Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Arena with him going scoreless in 23 minutes but chiming in three rebounds, two assists, and two steals on Saturday.
Javi Gomez de Liano only had a solitary point in three minutes for Anyang (1-2).
Alvano did collect 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists in Wonju’s 77-70 loss to Busan KCC Egis at Wonju Sports Complex on Sunday to drop to 1-4.
Calvin Epistola got three points, four rebounds, and three assists for Busan (2-3).
