I bought a $125 Diecast Tesla Model 3 ...and wrapped it pink!
In this video, I'll be unboxing a 125 LB diecast Tesla Model 3 model. There's an official Tesla product. As I said, it's 125 lbs, so we'd expect it to be pretty high quality and hopefully it should be a pretty nice thing to keep. I own a Tesla Model 3 right now, but I'm unlikely to own that Tesla for the rest of my life, whereas this is something that I could hold on to. So here we go. Let's unbox it and see what it's like. We can rip this off to begin with. Very nice. Oh there we got a nice looking box. Isn't it very fancy? You can also see this is a 1 to 18 scale diecast, which I think means it's exactly 18 times smaller than the real. And it looks pretty cool on pictures because you can I open the doors and stuff. So I'm quite excited about it. But I am curious whether I'm going to decide if I think it's worth the money or not because I've bought a lot of things on the Tesla store and they're all very expensive. For example, last month I got a lot of T-shirts. Those T-shirts were really expensive, but when they arrived, they were annoyingly comfortable, so I didn't have much I could complain about. Anyway, it looks like I need to actually break the seal here and now We should be able to open it up. All right, you ready? Oh, oh, oh, oh, that opens weird. Yeah, I definitely did not do this right. Maybe I did. OK, well, my box has fallen apart completely and I now have this less aesthetically pleasing thing. And also, oh, that's fancy. It comes with a certificate of authenticity. This certifies that this Model 3 Performance Dual Motor 118 diecast model is manufactured under license of Tesla Incorporated and is a true representation of the actual vehicle. Well, that's terribly fancy. Here we go. Alright, let's flip it around because you can see it says front there and here we go oh more things. I can see the shape of the car look at that look at that. Oh it's got a good weight, so it's quite big. It's bigger than I imagined for some reason and now oh we can get a little teaser. Do you know what it looks really nice quality. It does now you will also have just noticed that I purchased a black die cast model, but I don't have a black Tesla model 3. In fact, I have a bright pink Tesla model 3. That's because it was vinyl wrap. Oh my God, I've hit me lamp. Bloody hell, look at that. Yeah, the car was vinyl wrapped with this, so no promises or anything, but I'm going to attempt attempt. It might not work. I will be attempting to wrap this die cast model pink so it looks like my pink car and then that will become a really nice memory to keep hold of because obviously hopefully my car won't be bright pink for much longer. But for now, let's open up the die cast model and take a look at it. Do you know what that is smart? That is actually really, really smart. It's something about the windscreen being so shiny. I really do like that. Oh, that does look nice, doesn't it? Yeah, annoyingly does. The wheels are mobile and I think yeah, the wheels do turn as well. They're not connected to the back wheels though, which technically they should be seen as this is dual mortar. Oh, look at the detail inside. That's so good. I don't even know how to show you the detail inside. There you go. You can see me cup holders. Do you see it Right. How would I open the door then? Can I just pull on the mirror? Oh, I can. Oh, and it snaps open and short. That's nice. So now I might be able to give you a better view of the interior. You see the wheel? You see we've got the little screen. We've got white seats. So it's the old centre console that it's got. So it's it's not the new generation 1. So I suppose they should really update that. Shall we see if the boot opens? I don't know if it. Oh, I think it does. Oh, it's open. It's open. Oh, and look at that. It's just as inconveniently small as the real thing. Here we go. We can just about fit half a pencil in there. Very accurate. I don't actually know how to open the back doors, but I believe it is possible. Can I push them from this side? Oh, there we go. Yeah, yeah, that works. There's got to be an easier way, though. And now we can go ahead and take a look at the back seats and once again, look at the little seat belt. It's pretty good, isn't it? Is it 125 LB, though? I don't know. It shouldn't be, but it's heavy, it's metallic. Looking around it, there's not really much I can pick fault with. I'm getting it all grubby. Let me give it a little Polish. Here we go. It is a really accurate little representation to be fair. Can I open the front? I have no idea how I would get in there and I don't really want to scratch it either, right. I absolutely cannot work out how I get into this front, but I've looked at pictures. It is possible. I'm trying to just like push it down, hoping that it clips open, but I don't think it does. So you know what desperate times I'm walking out the spudger and I'm just going to pull it open. Oh, please don't break. I do need it open if I'm going to attempt to wrap it pink. Oh, look at the little wipers. So they don't pull all the way up, but they do move a little bit. Look at it flapping about right. If my spudger can't get into it, then it is not happening. I have no idea how I'm going to wrap this. Oh God. Oh, I wonder if the charging port flips open on it. Let's find out No, I think that's all connected to the lights, so that's not going to open right. Well there you have it. That is what a 125 LB diecast Tesla Model 3 looks like it's pretty good. I've only just noticed the little rear view mirror that is so cute oh hello everyone, how are you doing? I have no idea how I can show you this mirror oh wait there you go do you see it look how cute that is isn't it adorable? Oh look at the door seals look at the little buttons well, I guess at this point, the only thing left to do is attempt to wrap it pink attempt and if I do manage to wrap it pink I'm not going to do a good job. I just want to make that clear before I start. The only thing I've been able to wrap pink previously was this little custom play button, and that was easy because it's literally just a rectangle, OK with lots of straight edges. How am I going to wrap this? I can't even get the front open. OK wish me luck. So with the help of my trusty spudger, I managed to quickly get the front open. And can I just say the interior frog is incredibly accurate to the real thing. Like they've done a really good job there. Anyway, I thought the bonnet would be the easiest panel to start with so I cut out a shape similar to it and managed to stick it down with very few issues and ended up coming out not too bad at all. Then from there, the next easiest segment would be one of the front doors. Which one again went quite smoothly. Now I know some of you will be thinking, Jack, why didn't you just take the car apart so you could wrap each segment separately? That would be much easier. Well, interestingly, it's not possible to take it apart. There are no visible screws anywhere. I assume that a lot of it was glued together to give a more premium feel and create something that was more accurate to the real thing. Anyway, after I did that front door, I decided I'd do one of the rear doors and it went pretty smoothly until I closed the rear door and realized that I left a massive triangle. So that was annoying, but I managed to just cover it up with a bit more tape and then did the remaining doors with very few issues. It was all relatively straightforward. Now, even though I couldn't take any of the metallic segments apart, I was able to remove the plastic covers over the lights with just using a bit of force. And then from that point onwards it was incredibly fiddly and time consuming and took ages because there was tons of just weird little shapes. And I'm by number means a professional. Nor did I want to spend as long on this as it would take a professional to do professionally. And I wanted to film the whole thing best I could. But as you can see, me big fathead kept getting in the way. So I thought I'll just crack on with it and when it's done I can show you the finished product. Do you want to the finished product? Here you go. How cute's that? It's All in all probably took me about four hours of just faffing on. There is now tiny pink pieces of paper all of my desk. But honestly, I'm really happy with the finished product. Obviously, as soon as you look really closely, you can notice lots of imperfections, particularly in like around the wheels and those areas, But I never said it was going to be perfect. It's a nice memory and obviously me spending time on it myself makes even more special as well, doesn't it? All of the doors do still open. It's a little bit messy on the inside and all of the wheels still move, but they do make some funny noises now. And of course, the most important detail. Just like the real thing, I have written Turd Boy 420 on the back of it. Incredibly annoyingly, the whole thing was perfect. And then only moments ago, just as I clicked the record button on this camera, I put my elbow back onto my desk. But instead of hitting my desk, I hit the glass of my car and apparently I'm the Hulk or something because I put a massive crack in it, which is really sad. You know what? From a distance, you can't realize it looks epic. I'm really, really proud of it. And it shall forever be kept right there just next to my desk. So that's the end of the video.
