“Over 100 Russian soldiers captured”
Following a week of rapid progress, Ukraine claims to have conquered more than 1000 km2 in the Russian Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Last week, Ukrainian president declared on Telegram: "we continue to progress in the Kursk region. Since the beginning of the day, we have covered between one and two kilometers in different areas." In particular, he mentioned that “over 100 Russian soldiers have been captured”.
On the eighth day of its 'surprise' offensive, Ukraine also announced the opening of humanitarian corridors in the Russian border region of Kursk. Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchouk said on Telegram: "Our military forces plan (...) to open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians, both towards Russia and Ukraine."

Footage shows the two specialized boats drifting and smashing into the To Mau bridge across the Chay River in Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province, on September 9. One vessel sank and passed under the bridge while the other remained stuck. Yagi was Asia's most powerful storm this year, triggering landslides and floods that killed at least 150 people in Vietnam, where it made landfall. Four people also died in the Chinese holiday of Hainan in its path after coming from the Philippines, where it killed at least 20 residents.
