NewsSpain: Torrential Floods Devastate Cadaqués: Cars Swept Away in Salvador Dalí's Beloved Town
Cadaqués, Spain - November 08, 2024 On November 8, X user Hugo Scoccia shared a harrowing video capturing the floods in Cadaqués, Spain. The situation was described as dire, with numerous vehicles being dragged by the swollen stream of the Cadaqués river, blocking the bridge—a sight unseen in the town for many, many years. A flash flood reminiscent of the devastating scenes in Valencia just ten days prior, swept through the center of Cadaqués, carrying off everything in its path. Over 30 cars were engulfed by the raging waters, creating a new scene of destruction for residents to wake up to on Friday. Mayor Pia Serinyana confirmed that 32 vehicles were caught in the flood. The aftermath saw cars piled up against each other by a bridge near the town casino. Among the victims of the flood was at least one car with foreign plates, suggesting tourists were also affected by this natural disaster. Despite the extensive property damage, there were no reports of human casualties in Cadaqués, the picturesque former fishing village that once inspired Salvador Dalí.
