NewsHow To Prevent Your Dog From Getting Dementia
If you can’t teach your old dog new tricks, it might be a bad sign. The odds of a canine having doggy dementia rise by more than 50% with each year of age. While dementia is a well-known condition in humans, dogs can experience a similar decline in cognitive function. The symptoms of canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD) include disrupted sleep, forgetfulness and walking into things. Some studies have found it can occur in up to 35% of older dogs. But because the symptoms resemble those in other diseases, its true prevalence is difficult to confirm. A new study has identified the top factors associated with a dog’s risk of getting the disease. The research found that the odds of CCD were 6.5 times higher among dogs with lower activity levels. However, the researchers also cautioned that dogs with CCD may be less active because of their condition.

NewsMoose Approaches Biker on Alaskan Trail
Occurred on June 22, 2021 / Anchorage, Alaska, USA Info: "The moose was on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail in Anchorage, Alaska at 8:04 pm on June 22, 2021. I was riding my bike when I saw the moose standing on the trail. I stopped at a safe distance (100ft or so) and waited for him to move. I reached for my phone to take a photo when he started walking toward me, so I ditched my bike and got ready to jump into the grove of large birch trees next to me (the only way to avoid a moose trampling). After a moment, I decided to move to the other side of the trees to encourage him to continue down the trail. He started walking toward me again, so I moved back into the trees, trying not to trip. Moose have been known to trample even the most athletic adults."
