NPFL: Babaganaru demands more from Akwa United players after draw at Lobi Stars
Akwa United head coach, Mohammed Babaganaru praised his players for their fighting spirit in the clash with Lobi Stars.
The Promise Keepers held Lobi Stars to a 0-0 draw at the Lafia City Stadium on Monday.
Both teams carved out chances to win the game but were unable to put it to bed.
Babaganaru regretted his team’s inability to convert their chances.
“In my general assessment, both teams played very well and created lots of scoring chances but at the end of the day no goal to show for it,” he told the club’s media.
“The positives from this game is that we played well because if we didn’t play well, we wouldn’t have created those chances in the first place.
“I’m not very happy because in the last moments of the game we had a one-on-one chance but Mare didn’t score and that would have been the difference.”
The experienced tactician, however, said he would work on the lapses noticed in the game especially in the attack.
“It is our first match of the season and the boys were somehow anxious. My players need to be more composed in front of goal and we will continue to work on our scoring abilities and also to improve the confidence level of the players,” he said.
