Nick Jonas is returning to Broadway to play the lead in the debut of The Last Five Years as it makes its debut on the Great White Way.

The talented actor – who is currently shooting the movie Power Ballad in Dublin with Paul Rudd – and member of the Jonas Brothers band, 31, will play aspiring novelist Jamie opposite Tony winner Adrienne Warren, who will be playing his wife Cathy.

The musical romantic comedy is told from both points of view of the husband and the wife and was last mounted off-Broadway in 2001 and 2013.

A film version starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan was released in 2014.

Jason Robert Brown wrote the musical based on the demise of his own marriage. The new revival is expected to premiere in 2025.

The Last Five Years will be directed by Whitney White, 37, who is currently nominated for Best Director of a Play for Jaja's African Hair Braiding.

Jonas and Warren will also be presenting an award during the 2024 Tony Awards on Sunday night.

The show is told in alternating chronological order by Jamie and Cathy during the highs and lows of five years of their New York City-based marriage.

Jonas as Jamie will narrate the performance from the beginning of the love story while Warren as Cathy tells the story from the end looking back.

'I have always believed that when the time was right, The Last Five Years would make its way to Broadway,' composer Brown, 53, told The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday.

'To have Nick and Adrienne taking on these roles is a composer’s dream come true, and to have Whitney’s extraordinary guidance and vision is the hope of every playwright. It has taken twenty-five years, but the time is right.'

In addition to his residency at the Marquis theater with the Jonas Brothers last year, Nick has appeared in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, replacing Daniel Radcliffein the role in 2012.

As a child he and his brother Joe Jonas appeared in Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast and Annie Get Your Gun.

'Husband appreciation post: As I finish one he starts one. The universe keeps us in sync. So happy to be reunited as he starts filming Power Ballad,' she wrote on Instagram.
